The Lit. Nanny and Me

The goal of this service is to build and affirm your child’s growing belief that literacy is wonderful, enjoyable, and meaningful. We meet your child where they are in their journey to spark and encourage a continued love for and interest in literacy. The Lit. Nanny will provide your child with one-on-one time, exposing them to and engaging them in developmentally appropriate literacy activities grounded in research and evidence based practices. Below are the age groups serviced.

Early Literacy

AGES 3 ½ - 6 YEARS OLD

Our children’s outlooks on books, reading, and writing are shaped in the early years, before they can even read or write their first word. There are numerous literacy-rich experiences they can engage in early on to encourage a love for literacy and set them up for success. So, if your little one loves books, being read to, talking about stories, and more, or if you know they will benefit from more exposure to these experiences, we are excited to offer this one-on-one interactive time with The Lit. Nanny. Below are some of the early literacy experiences and activities your child will engage in.

SAMPLE EARLY LITERACY EXPERIENCES AND ACTIVITIES:

 

  • Listen to rich, interactive read-alouds of books, stories, poems, and rhymes

  • Engage in enjoyable book talks about fiction and non-fiction texts by asking and answering questions

  • Participate in before, during, and/or after-reading activities

  • Use new and interesting words acquired through conversations and read-alouds

  • Play games that promote phonological and phonemic awareness

  • Develop their language through rhymes and songs

  • Develop awareness of print, letters, and their sounds

  • Participate in fine-motor activities

  • Engage in shared writing prompts
